Wiser Locker Privacy Policy
Effective date: 24 August 2026
Last updated: 24 August 2026
Wiser Locker is a local-first privacy and security application published by ForgerWise. This Privacy Policy explains what information Wiser Locker processes, where that processing occurs, when information may leave your device, and the controls available to you.
- Your Vault content is stored and processed on your device.
- Wiser Locker does not currently provide an account or cloud synchronization service.
- Optional usage analytics is disabled until you choose to allow it.
- Firebase security services may process limited installation, integrity, and connection data independently of your Analytics choice.
- The Special Thanks roster is requested only when you open that page.
- Wiser Locker does not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.
1. Scope
This Policy applies to the Wiser Locker mobile application and the Wiser Locker services that the App connects to. It does not govern third-party websites, stores, operating-system services, or applications that you choose to open from Wiser Locker.
This Policy describes the functionality available in the current release. It does not describe planned accounts, cloud synchronization, advertising, or billing services as though they already exist.
2. Who is responsible for Wiser Locker
ForgerWise publishes and operates Wiser Locker. Contact details are provided at the end of this Policy.
Wiser Locker currently has no Wiser Locker account system. Ordinary subscriptions or purchases, if offered through an app store, do not automatically make a person eligible for public recognition in Special Thanks.
3. Information processed on your device
3.1 Vault content and metadata
The App processes the files that you import or make available to the Vault. Depending on the feature you use, this may include images, videos, audio, documents, thumbnails, file names, file paths, media properties, Tags, Hidden status, Trash status, and other information needed to organize and display the Vault.
Vault files and app-managed metadata are stored locally. Wiser Locker does not upload Vault content to ForgerWise.
For supported media, the App may store a per-item playback or resume position so playback can continue later. This is not a chronological viewing-history service.
Hidden files and Hidden Tags are excluded from Analytics features as described in the App.
3.2 Passwords, encryption keys, and biometrics
The App processes your Wiser Locker password and cryptographic material locally to protect and unlock the Vault. Password verification values and encryption keys are stored using platform-protected storage and encrypted databases where applicable.
If you enable biometric unlock, the operating system performs the biometric comparison. Wiser Locker does not receive or store your fingerprint, face image, or other raw biometric template. The App receives only the authentication result and uses platform-protected key storage to release the material needed to unlock the Vault.
3.3 Preferences and security records
The App stores settings and operational state on your device, including appearance, language, playback, security, screenshot, Analytics, backup, and related preferences.
When security logging is enabled or available, security events are stored locally. The available retention controls are shown in the App. This Policy does not promise a fixed log duration because the actual duration depends on the setting and release in use.
3.4 Local Analytics
Wiser Locker provides on-device Analytics about the Vault. Basic Analytics is calculated locally. If Advanced Analytics is enabled, the App may keep encrypted daily summaries in a separate SQLCipher database protected with Vault-related key material.
Local Analytics may include aggregate counts, usage-time summaries, login or session outcomes, media categories, Tag relationships, and other summaries shown in the Analytics pages. It excludes Hidden files, Hidden Tags, file names, paths, thumbnails, passwords, raw authentication secrets, and a chronological per-file viewing history.
You can clear local Analytics history without deleting Vault files.
4. Permissions and device access
Wiser Locker requests device permissions only when required for a feature you use. Depending on your platform and choices, these permissions may include:
- photo, video, audio, or media-library access;
- file or document access;
- camera access for supported capture or import features;
- notifications;
- biometric authentication; and
- broad file access on Android where needed to select, import, export, back up, restore, or manage files across storage locations.
Granting a permission allows the App to access the relevant device resource for the requested function. You can review or revoke permissions in your device settings, although some features may then stop working.
When you use a system file picker, share sheet, media picker, or storage provider, the operating system or provider may also process information under its own privacy terms.
5. Information transmitted outside your device
5.1 Firebase core and App Check security services
Wiser Locker uses Firebase services provided by Google to initialize and protect supported network requests. Firebase Installations and Firebase App Check, including platform integrity services such as Google Play Integrity where available, may process limited technical data even when optional usage Analytics is disabled.
Depending on the platform and service response, this may include:
- a Firebase installation identifier;
- App identifiers, version, Firebase project configuration, and SDK information;
- operating-system, device, and platform information;
- IP address and standard connection information;
- App Check tokens and integrity or attestation material; and
- service timestamps and technical error information.
This processing is used to operate, secure, authenticate, and protect App-to-service requests. Wiser Locker does not send Vault files, file names, Tags, passwords, biometric templates, or authentication activity to Firebase App Check.
Google processes this information under its applicable terms and privacy documentation. ForgerWise configures and reviews the Firebase services used by the release, but cannot control all provider-generated technical records.
5.2 Optional usage Analytics
Firebase Analytics collection is disabled until you explicitly choose Allow. If you opt in, Wiser Locker sends a fixed allowlist of product-use events, such as navigation between top-level App areas and success, cancellation, or failure outcomes for selected features.
Wiser Locker does not deliberately include Vault content, file names, file paths, Tags, thumbnails, passwords, login methods, biometric use, Vault statistics, user-entered text, file counts, or media details in these events.
Firebase Analytics may add provider-generated identifiers and technical properties, such as an app-instance identifier, App version, device category, operating-system information, language, approximate region derived from connection data, and standard automatically collected events or diagnostics.
Wiser Locker does not currently use Firebase Analytics for advertising, ads personalization, or cross-app tracking, and does not link Analytics events to a Wiser Locker account because no such account currently exists.
You can deny or withdraw optional Analytics consent in the App. Withdrawing consent stops future optional collection and requests a reset of the on-device Firebase Analytics identifier. It does not retroactively delete information already uploaded or aggregate reports already produced; those are governed by Firebase configuration and Google’s retention and deletion processes.
5.3 Special Thanks
The Special Thanks page displays a public roster maintained for Wiser Locker. The App requests that roster from the Wiser Locker data endpoint only when you open Special Thanks. It does not periodically request the roster in the background.
Like a normal internet request, the hosting and network services involved may process standard connection information such as IP address, request time, requested resource, response status, and basic HTTP headers. The roster request does not include Vault content.
A person’s public name, nickname, or link is added only after their consent. ForgerWise provides a way to request a correction, name change, link change, or removal. An ordinary subscription or purchase does not automatically place a person on the Special Thanks roster.
If the roster cannot be loaded, Wiser Locker remains usable and displays its available fallback state.
5.4 Links and contact
If you open an external website, email link, store page, or other third-party destination, your device connects to that service and the service may receive standard connection information. Information that you choose to send by email or another external service is processed by that service and by ForgerWise for the purpose of responding to you.
6. How information is used
ForgerWise and the App use information described in this Policy to:
- provide, organize, encrypt, unlock, display, play, back up, restore, export, and delete Vault content as directed by you;
- remember your settings and maintain local App state;
- provide on-device Analytics and security records;
- protect App-to-service requests and detect misuse;
- understand optional, allowlisted product-use outcomes after consent;
- display the public Special Thanks roster when requested;
- diagnose failures and maintain reliability; and
- respond to support, privacy, correction, and removal requests.
7. Sharing, sale, advertising, and tracking
Wiser Locker does not sell or rent your personal information. It does not currently contain third-party advertising or use your Vault content for advertising.
Limited information may be processed by service providers only as described in this Policy, including Google Firebase services, platform integrity services, app stores, operating-system providers, and the hosting or network providers serving the Special Thanks roster.
ForgerWise may disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect users or the public, investigate fraud or abuse, or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. Because Vault content is stored locally and is not uploaded to ForgerWise, ForgerWise ordinarily cannot provide content it does not possess.
8. Backups, exports, Trash, and Reset App
8.1 Encrypted backups
When you create a Wiser Locker backup, the App writes an encrypted .wlz archive to the location you choose. The file remains under your control and may also be copied, synchronized, or backed up by the storage provider or system you selected.
Keep the backup password secure. ForgerWise cannot recover a forgotten backup password or decrypt a backup for you.
8.2 Decrypted exports
When you export or decrypt a Vault file outside Wiser Locker, the exported copy is no longer protected by the Vault. It may be visible to other applications, storage providers, backup systems, people with device access, or recipients you choose.
8.3 Trash and deletion
Moving an item to Trash does not immediately erase it. Permanently deleting an item removes the App-managed copy and related App-managed records, subject to normal storage behavior such as filesystem allocation, operating-system backups, or copies previously created elsewhere.
8.4 Reset App and uninstalling
Reset App removes App-managed local Vault data, credentials, preferences, Analytics history, security records, and related local state as described by the confirmation shown in the App.
Reset App and uninstalling do not delete encrypted .wlz backups, decrypted exports, shared copies, or files stored outside the App’s managed locations. You must delete those copies from the location or service where you saved them.
9. Retention and deletion
App-managed Vault data and local preferences remain on the device until you delete the relevant content, clear the relevant history, reset the App, or remove the App and the operating system deletes its managed storage.
Local Analytics and security records follow the controls and retention behavior presented in the installed release. ForgerWise does not state an unverified fixed duration in this Policy.
Optional Firebase information and standard network records are retained according to the applicable provider configuration, legal requirements, security needs, and provider processes. Before each production release, ForgerWise reviews the relevant Firebase, store, and disclosure settings.
Special Thanks roster entries remain public until changed or removed. You may request correction or removal using the contact details below.
10. Security
Wiser Locker uses measures intended to protect App-managed information, including encryption, SQLCipher databases, platform-protected key storage, authentication controls, and integrity protection for supported service requests.
No security system is perfect. Device compromise, weak or reused passwords, unlocked exports, insecure backup locations, malicious software, operating-system vulnerabilities, or loss of the device can reduce protection. You are responsible for maintaining device security, choosing strong credentials, and keeping independent backups where appropriate.
11. Your choices and privacy rights
Depending on the feature and your location, you can:
- grant or revoke device permissions;
- enable or disable biometric unlock;
- enable, disable, or clear local Analytics history;
- allow, deny, or withdraw optional Firebase Analytics consent;
- manage security-log controls available in the App;
- delete Vault items, empty Trash, or use Reset App;
- choose where backups and exports are stored;
- request correction or removal of a Special Thanks entry; and
- contact ForgerWise with a privacy request.
Privacy laws may give you additional rights, such as access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or complaint rights. ForgerWise can respond only for information it controls. It cannot retrieve App-managed Vault content that never left your device.
To make a request, contact ForgerWise using the details below. ForgerWise may need enough information to understand and verify the request while avoiding collection of unnecessary data.
12. Children
Wiser Locker is not directed to children under 13. ForgerWise does not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 through a Wiser Locker account because the current release does not provide accounts.
If you believe a child has provided information to ForgerWise through support, Special Thanks, or another external channel, contact ForgerWise so the matter can be reviewed and the information deleted where appropriate.
13. International processing
Firebase, hosting, email, app-store, and other service providers may process limited information in countries other than the country where you live. Those locations may have different data-protection laws. ForgerWise relies on the safeguards and terms made available by the applicable providers and on other lawful mechanisms where required.
Vault content that remains only on your device is not internationally transferred by ForgerWise.
14. Changes to this Policy
ForgerWise may update this Policy when the App, its services, legal requirements, or privacy practices change. The updated Policy will show a new effective or last-updated date and will be made available in the App and, before store submission, at the public Privacy Policy URL.
Material changes will be communicated in a manner appropriate to the change and applicable requirements. Continued use after an update is subject to the updated Policy, but a policy update will not convert an optional consent into consent where a separate choice is required.
